Ronald A. Sommer, 92, husband of Edie and resident of Commack, passed gracefully into the arms of God on May 3rd with family by his side. Ronald was born in New York City, son of Howard and Anna Sommer and brother of Howard Sommer, Jr. Ron was educated on Long Island, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, worked for Hauppauge School District, volunteered for the Hauppauge Fire Department, and retired from United Cerebral Palsy of Long Island. Along with his dedication to and time spent with his family, he enjoyed the waters of Long Island, playing cards, sweets, and reading.

Survivors include his wife and love of his life, together for over 44 years, Edie (née Catanzaro); his step-children Stephen Iacovelli (Carol) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Vincent Iacovelli (Tracy) of Commack, and Denise (John) Sanchez of Commack; and his five adoring grandchildren, Danielle, Jason, Sabrina, Jonathan, and Sarah.
